I've been having issues with my laptop recently (HP Pavilion 9825), the monitor is fecked (showing blurry images or strange lines across) then the NVIDIA drivers were corrupted etc..
I have reinstalled the drivers and I was fine for a couple of days, then the laptop froze, the screen went blank and rebooted itself after some painful sytem restoration...so I have googled the problem and with my great surprise I see that i'm only one of the thousand HP customers with this problem
I have read everything on this matter (inlcuding hplies and some nvidia site) and it seems I have to go through a painful route (calling HP in court basically) as my warranty has expired and they wouldn't know anything about it.
The thing is that I have lost my receipt (stupid i know) so I'm not sure what I can do without it.
do u have any suggestion for me please?

one last thing, in case i'm not successfull do you know any show where a can trade my laptop for a new one + cash?

    thanks

I know this suggestion isn't much help but have you tried seeing if the laptop can output to an external monitor? My 3 year old hp is waiting for a replacement inverter after the screen went dark and barely visible, but still can output a display via vga. I did a hard reset, checked it for frayed cable around the hinge, replaced the memory and it still was dark.

I wasn't entirely clear on whether the laptop is a goner or can be salvaged/ repaired, so apologies if this is no use. Hp are pretty useless with regard to out of warranty information, checked website and told to phone number, phoned number and told to check website. Any info I got was from my own research.

thank you for the suggestion but i want to fix the issue before my motherboard gets burnt too.
I am thinking to get rid of this laptop before it's too late.
Does anyone know if there is any shop who would accept trade in for a new laptop? or should i put it on ebay??

only thing you can do is contact hp and see what the options are, if its a known fault with the nvidea chip it might be covered out of warranty like some dells are

you could sell the laptop for parts, I've never heard of anywhere you can trade in old broken laptops
