Since the blame game is so popular these day, has anyone put a thought to this:

We all know our polititians are not qualified for their jobs (talking about degrees etc here) and seeing them change portfolios over the years until they "like" one as opposed to being "qualified" for one is pretty disheartening.

So effectively they are only really figureheads for the senior civil servants that really run the show who aren't elected, who rolled back their pay cut, who advised the puppet government we've had for the last ten/twenty years and who really got us into the mess we're in.

How do we rid the nation of these people or is that even possible?

Nope we need them to advise the new government. Well thats what they think anyway. You have a whole culture problem in the civil service to tackle, were they tell the politician what they want them to hear to advance their own careers.

    harney not our fault
    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/breaking/2010/1119/breaking1.html
Speaking this morning, Minister for Health Mary Harney said it was a "very sensitive time" and blamed a failure of regulation for the banking crisis. "We have to protect the national interest. It is a very challenging, very sensitive, very difficult time, and members of the Government have to be careful in any comments they would make," she said.

Asked if the Government should accept responsibility for the IMF intervention, she said there was a "failure of regulation not be way of nature of the regulation but the failure to implement the regulation. There was a failure by the authorities to enforce the regulation, of that there is no doubt".

who appointed the regulator, didnt he get a nice retirement package ffs these people have no shame copyright pat rabbite
