Anyone here get married at Ashford Castle in Cong, County Mayo?

I'm getting married and would absolutely love to get married there but am assuming the price would be unbelievably high.

Does anyone have any idea of costs?

    Thank you :)

Why not contact them and get a wedding brochure which will have the prices in it ?

    Hi Zammy,

When we were looking into booking our wedding I had a quick glance at Ashford Castle (about 8months ago). While the prices for the meal were actually reasonable enough it was the price of accomodation for the guests that was a shocker and I couldn't have imagined asking people to pay that amount.......I think this seems to be the norm amongst luxury castles in Ireland regarding weddings!! As I said this was 8months ago so things may have changed.

Best of luck and hope you get your dream venue!! Remember there's plenty of room for haggling these days so don't be too disheartened at first look at the prices, accomodation prices included :)

P.S the church in cong is absolutely gorgeous as is the setting (not sure if you're having a church ceremony though)

Hi LBD, thanks for replying :)

Yes, we're currently looking into the Church on the grounds of Ashford Castle so it would just seem ideal to have the whole wedding in the one place, no long drives from the Church to hotel. But I've always been under the impression that prices for Ashford would be completely out of budget, wanted a rough idea if it was at all an possibility before contacting them looking for exact figures.

Thanks for taking the time to reply! :)

You could have the meal there and have your guests stay in B&B's around Cong. There is also a small hotel in the village called Ryans.

that's exactly what I was thinking about. There are many B+Bs in and around Cong. I know Ashford have the prices of accommodation there for a wedding but they don't give meal prices on their website and I've e-mailed but not heard anything back yet.. so that's my reason for posting here. Hoping to get some guide line prices before contacting them, if it's completely crazy then I won't even bother getting my hopes up for Ashford, but if it seems somewhat within reach, I'll put the work into it. :)

the price per person for the reception is very good starting at €70 pp from what i remember but they expect you to fill the rooms. they have 85 rooms and in the peak of the summer these could cost your guest up to €400 a night! I have the brochure at home if you have any specific questions PM and il look them up for you. if you gave them a call too im sure they would post ya a wedding pack. Id been in at Lisloughrey next door and thought we'll check out Ashford castle for the craic! Lisloughrey isnt too far behind them in their prices! and they expect you to book out their rooms to have "exclusivity" of the hotel.
I can scan the brochure also and email it to you if you like.

Call and ask to speak to Monica, she is a wedding co-ordinator there and is a cracking lass, very helpful indeed.

Best of luck with the search

They have 83 rooms but also have 2 smaller options 45ish and 60ish, Any of those 3 options you have to stay there are no weddings/birthdays open to the public...

Thanks to you all for the info, that's great!

Something around 45 rooms wouldn't be so bad, I assume there's an increase in meal prices for that option?

I'm living out of the country at current but hoping to be back home early next year and I'll get onto making the calls, etc then. At least now I'll have a general idea of what to expect before hand, thanks again!

I'm open to correction but I seem to remember something about ALL guests at a wedding there having to stay in Ashford Castle.

    Hey there
Does anyone know much about the church in the grounds of Ashford Castle, I think its a Protestant church. Has anyone who is not from the Parish gotten married in it? I'm considering it for my wedding in Lisloughrey.

    Thanks!
