I applied for a job with them, although chancing my arm.. I got this back,
    Hi ****,

Thanks for your interest in working at Facebook. We’re always on the lookout for the best talent and although we’re interested in your skills and background, it's not quite a fit for the positions that we have open right now.

We’d like to keep in touch as Facebook continues to grow, and we’ll contact you when any relevant positions open up.

We really appreciate your interest and look forward to connecting with you in the future.

    Thanks!
    Facebook Recruiting

Right I know it's a no I have got that much from the e-mail. What I don't get is , will they contact me if something comes up ? Or if I see something I would like to do will I touch base with them again ?

I would take this as the same email they send to hundreds of people i.e. don't hold your breath.

Apply again if another job comes up that you like.

Sounds like a fairly standard PFO. Very few companies bother to re-visit old CVs unless there was a really exceptional candidate they would like to have hired. Next time you see a job you want apply for it.

Yeah, I've been sent that one. Facebook is a lot easier to get into if you have a second language or are top-notch at the 'ol software engineering. At least in my experience anyway.

Well I am happy they got back to me. It really drives me up the wall when they don't get back too you.

Anyone working with the owl facebook?

I've just started my own recruitment company and one of the standards and procedures were putting in place is that every CV gets replied to -whether we like it or not. Its just common courtesy after a candidate after they've put in at least an hour or more work personalising their CV and cover letter for the job.

I do know someone working in Facebook and they said its exciting times in their Dublin offices- I think they are taking on 140+ people at the moment so the Xmas party should be a real hoot :pac:

Does anybody on here have any detail into what they are looking for with regards to the language part of the recruiting process? My friend has a language translating thing coming up for Facebook and he is quite worried about it.

Even if anybody has information on the general recruitment process it would be of great help?!

    Thanks!

The OP just received a very kind, very eloquent PFO.

Most of mine are one liners.

Got the same email a while ago when I applied for one of their jobs. I have also heard from a couple of people within the industry that if you are over a certain age they tend to discount your application. Because of this I have now removed my age/dob from my CV.

you have to keep applying to them, American and Canadian companies prefer to be hassled, when you apply and after you apply they like you to contact them again to check how the review of your application is going. This shoes them that you have an interest in working for them. Just seems to be the way that they do things.
