Maybe someone who had a baby in the early eighties can help me out here (or a practicing ultrasound technician.)
The ultrasound-scans available in 1982, say, were they able to pinpoint the sex of the fetus? When did it become possible to bring home a print of the scan to show family?
I should be able to remember all this but I don't.

My mum had a scan of me in 1982 and she wasnt asked if she wanted a picture so I assume that couldnt be done. Also she wasnt asked if she wanted to know the sex so maybe it wasnt clear image for that

Thanks both FluffyCat and grindelwald for taking the trouble to reply.
It's beginning to look as if the sex of the child wasn't available from the scan in those years.
