Mounting Screen in Bay Window

I want to mount my manual projector screen in a bay window, i.e. right above the window frame itself. I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to DIY, but I'm keen to learn and I'm not 100% stupid, so I won't tackle anything that I might end up completely ruining :)

From a quick scout of the area, it doesn't look like there are battens positioned conveniently where the mounting holes on the screen are. I'm assuming that I can't screw the screen directly into the plasterboard without ruining everything and causing a mini-armageddon in my living room.

So, I'm guessing my best course of action is to get some kind of wood / board that I can drill into the battens and *then* fix the screen to that board. Obviously, I also don't want to do this if it's going to look awful. I imagine that I can't fix the screen into the lintel (do bay windows have lintels or somethign different?) through the plasterboard, or can I?

I know that's not a huge amount of help, but I'm reaching out for advice from anyone who may know what I'm talking about! :) Mods, if this is the wrong forum, please feel free to move it to DIY or similar...

    Thanks!
