buying a car in the north

    after checking through carzone.ie for days, i've decided the best bet would be to buy a car in the 6 counties.
    i'm looking for a golf tdi, and a lot of the ones i seen down here have been brought in from the north and uk.
    what's the deal with VRT? do i buy the car up there, bring it down here and then pay the VRT to the motor tax?????
    would it be best to pay in sterling or euro???

    They like dealing in their own currency,naturally.:)
    When you buy your car,bring it to the Nct centre where they will see if it is roadworthy of a certificate and will calculate the value of the car.
