    Hi all,

I'm just wondering if it's possible to post alchohol to America? I've honestly never sent something like this so I just thought I'd get some advice before I try. Is it even possible with an post?

    Thanks!

Talk to Nucky Thompson, he'll sort you out on getting booze into America ;)

Yes, its possible. Your better talking to independent import/export services that are available to be honest.

Like this one for example: http://www.indexp.com/

Wow, they got rid of prohibition? No way.

I just want to send a bottle of whiskey as a present. I just assumed I might have had a problem

I've sent stuff before from the www.CelticWhiskeyShop.com

Costs a bit more but takes the hassle out of it because they pack it properly and all that jazz.

From last time this was asked.

Real answer: You can't. According to Publication 52 Hazardous, restricted, & perishable mail of the United States Postal Service, “Intoxicating liquors having 0.5 percent or more alcoholic content are nonmailable. This includes taxable liquors with 3.2 percent or less alcohol, as well as those obtained under a prescription or as a collector's item. The prohibition of the mailing of intoxicating liquors is contained in federal law (18 U.S.C. 1716).”

AH answer: do it anyway. It might get through or not. It's just a bottle of booze, no biggie.

Edit: I suppose sending it straight from an online shop should would work as they're not a private individual.

Be careful, a friend of mine tried sending over two bottles of Mickey Finns to me but it was confiscated, I think they mentioned that it was over the limit. Come to think of it, they were probably just bored in the sorting office!

An Post don't ship liquids afaik, so if you ask when you go to the PO, lie.

Although, it isn't hard to guess what's in a box the size of a whiskey bottle.
