IP Address

Hope this is in the right place

I have been getting emails from an unknow source in hotmail. I have done a trace and it reveals the ip address, However the las digit of the ip address changes each time, example the first was

XX.XX.XX.40

then
XX.XX.XX.42

then
XX.XX.XX.41

Is this the same person, same computer an internet cafe maybe, I just need some guidance as to the meaning of the last digit changing and the numbers being sequential

its most likely the same person.
The likelihood of it being 2 different people getting the same range of addresses if they are in a different place is almost zero.

if the address is 10.x.y.z or 192.168.a.b then they are private addresses

to answer your question:
if addresses are allocated automatically (called dhcp) they are normally given out sequentially

Thanks i know its from a foreign country. Its starts with 91.

I get these emails from this one person via hotmail,( i am pretty sure who it is) and thats where i got the ip address from its just every other contact i have with this person using their real name is through gmail or facebook and they dont provide ip addresses, real annoying
