At last we will have a top ranking event in Ireland. The WSA just confirmed today that the Grand Finals of the PTC will be held next March at the Helix in Dublin. This event will feature the 24 players who have qualified from the 12 PTC and EPTC events which have taken place since last July.

    Can't wait!!!

    This is good news.
PTC & EPTC, are these new events. Was it one of these that John Higgins won last week?
How does it work? Is it lower ranked players that generally compete and is it more or less a qualifying event for the tournament in Dublin next March?

The PTC and EPTC are twelve new weekend events which have been taking place since last July. Six were played in the UK and the other six in Germany Belgium and the final one this weekend in Prague. The tournaments are open to all players and every player has played in at least one.Matches are the best of seven up to and including the final. Each winner recieved £10,000 and ranking points, on top of the world ranking points won are PTC points, after this weekends event in Prague the top ranked 24 players qualify through to the Grand Finals next March where the winner is guaranteed £100,000.To qualify a player must have played in at least three of the events, even by winning last weekend in Germany John Higgins still cannot qualify as he has only played in one.
The tournaments have been a resounding success and are already scheduled to take place again next season.
Among the players who have definitely qualified are Selby,Williams,Murphy, Fu and Stevens, O'Sullivan needs to win at least one match this weekend to guarantee himself a place in March whilst Jimmy White and Ken Doherty need a good run to qualify.

He's still involved in the EPTC in Prague so I wouldn't rule him out just yet.

No homecoming for Ken,Shaun Murphy just did him 4-2 in the last 16,pity because he would have had Ebdon to reach the semi's!

The draw for the PTC finals to be held in the Helix next March was made today.

    The full draw is:
Ricky Walden v Liang Wenbo (Winner to play Shaun Murphy)
Mark Davis v Joe Jogia (Winner to play Stephen Lee)
Matthew Stevens v Gerard Greene (Winner to play Dominic Dale)
Stuart Bingham v Stephen Maguire (Winner to play Marcus Campbell)
Marco Fu v Michael Holt (Winner to play Barry Pinches)
Jamie Jones v Martin Gould (Winner to play Judd Trump)
Anthony Hamilton v Tom Ford (Winner to play Mark Williams)
Andrew Higginson v Jack Lisowski (Winner to play Mark Selby)

Should be a great event and a chance for Irish fans to watch a ranking tournament live in Ireland

Have never been to a professional snooker event so I booked all day tickets for the Saturday of the event. I presume this will be the two semi finals. They were quite good value at EUR25 each.
It's a pity that some of the big name players will not be there

I'm hoping that Williams, Selby, Murphy & Stevens will all be in the semi, but probably not possible!

ANy idea of what the helix will be like as a venue? There does not seem to be a seating plan for the event available so how do you know what your seats will be like?

    Would be good to see

How would one go about getting tickets?

Your best bet is to contact the box office in the Helix direct.

Yeah, I contacted the box office direct.

They said that the event is unreserved seating.

Booked my tickets for the full day on Sunday. I think €32 each. Should be a good event.

How would one go about getting tickets?

    And how much are they??

I go to college in DCU so it would be madness for me to miss this!
