    Hey all,

Thinking of getting HIDs for the Golf, It's a Mk5 & I want to get around 5000k, nothing blue & annoying.

Every man & his dog seems to be selling aftermarket ones, I'm after a decent set for an alright price.

    Thanks

Got mine at his4u.co.uk. Was very happy with them. However one of the ballasts may be starting to give out on me...

Not yet - Lent the beast (starlet) to someone so haven't had a chance yet. Best solution was to swap over the bulbs and see if the problem persists on that side. I did also notice that the light from the bulbs are also a slightly different hue to each other. I'll post up when I get it back and make the swap/test.

Well based on my experience as a sparks, a bulb will usually glow brighter just before it pops

I bought aftermarket Bi-Xenon 6K HID kit from ebay for Honda Civic and it's 100% perfect. No issues at all. Branded HID kits are way too expensive.

I think there's a difference in the light spread patterns though. Or at least thats how they justify the prices.
I certainly have never had a complaint about mine and I've driven towards my own cars to check them.
I've come across plenty of spanners on the roads though that are blinding oncoming traffic. Controversial.

make sure you get the slim digital ballasts, some people are still selling the old cheap Chinese ****e analogue ballast that send a heap of interference into the body of the car resulting in you getting no radio stations what so ever.spend around 100 to 150 euro on a set the cheaper sets ballasts will give bother.around 5000k will give you the nicest most modern looking white light. your golf doesn't have projector headlights like a passat so passing the nct with them installed will be very hard as the beam won't be correct.also make sure to get a canbus one otherwise youll be getting a bulb blown error on the dash.
