Bops : Why Prestige?

I prestiged 7 times in MW2 solely for the custom class slots. Does the same happen here ie. do you get extra slots for prestiging? What are the other benefits?

My game only arrived yesterday and have to say I've been pleasantly surprised by how good it is. Any tips on what guns to buy first in MP greatly appreciated

M16 with reflex sight and sleight of hand/steady aim is pretty nifty too. I never really liked it first time round, but after prestiging, the m16 feels better than the g11 (especially at long range) and is nearly as good as the commando (2nd last assault rifle). It feels like famas of MW2. Was killing dudes at sniper distance in one burst. I have about 3 out of 6 classes with it. Ak74 with grip and steady aim is also lethal for running and gunning. First 2 sniper rifles are awful (plenty of hits, few kills) and the infra red sights are a waste. LMGs are bit meh, maybe I haven't found the right setup but to me the starting LMG had a small clip, poorer accuracy, and made me significantly slower than assault and smg opponents. I did like the m60 however. My secondaries were either pistols (last stand pro) or launchers (ghost/scavenger) depending on perk choice.

Also spend your early money on perks. Most of the starting guns are decent but perks and claymore are what I would recommend.

Really hate missing the strela/skela/stella launcher (think stinger from mw2) and ghost pro but if you play with mates in a party they should be decent enough to keep the skies clear.

Are you serious? Are you saying the gun improves on prestige or something?
It's my one big hate in the game so far. The M16 is so underpowered. It was my strong favourite in MW2. But, in Blobs, I dont think I've killed a single person with a single burst, even from medium/close range.

Compared to MW2 where it was overpowered too many people. Or in COD4 where it was the single most overpowered gun in the game. No question about the latter.

It feels better at longer ranges, whether the final bullet in the burst gets headshots more often due to the recoil in the burst (like the battle rifle in halo 3) I can't say but often I'd fire 2 bursts into guys at close range and still getting killed knowing that if I did the same at a longer distance I'd drop them no problem. It could well be that the first round is hitting a hand/leg/gun or missing and then the others chest or some extremity.

First time playing the game I was quick to dismiss it as a lousy gun and not blame my lack of skill with it. If I changed my perk from sleight of hand to steady aim I might get a better chance close up but sleight of hand is just too useful especially when in a jam.

For me, prestige gives me a chance to reassess guns I'd previously overlooked and give them a fair shot with the variable being the gun not my skill/familiarity with the game. I loved the famas in mw2, and to me it feels like the famas with stopping power at medium/long distances.

Up close it does to me seem weaker but against an automatic you should expect that, especially since it's burst fire and you can't pull the trigger like a semi-auto to fire faster. I couldn't wait to get past the m16 first time round. I did have problems killing people without the sight so maybe try experimenting with attachments. Stats wise it's pretty awesome so that reason alone I'd persevere with it.

For someone starting from level 1, I'd say to focus on the following. It's what I'll be doing after prestiging I think...

When you start off, I'd suggest you buy the extended mags for the MP5K and the RDS/Reflex sight for the M16. Play with these guns, ignoring all other weapons, until you unlock the ones below.

SMG. Just buy the AK74U when you unlock it. Buy the Grip, Silencer and maybe Extended mags. It's the best SMG that I've played with by a big margin. The grip helps the recoil in a big way.

AR. Buy the Famas, Galil, AUG and AK47 when you unlock them. Famas is the weakest of those 4 imho, and it's quite close in level unlock to the Galil, so you could skip it too. But the other three are very good guns, and there are quite a few levels between Galil : AUG and AUG : AK47, so I'd buy all three of those.

LMG. Don't bother buying any of them initially. But when you have unlocked the last one (M60) and have plenty of spare cash built up, buy them all in one go. This then unlocks the "classified" Stoner69 which is a beast.

Instead of buying any other weapon apart from those listed here, I'd buy your attachments, equipment and perks.

Equipment wise, the Claymore is more powerful than in MW2 so a no-brainer (quicker trigger). I love the motion sensor. It's like a mini UAV, so great if you're defending an objective point. Those are the two I'd suggest.

For tactical grenades, get the concussion asap as it's very useful for stuns and also checking corners due to hitmarkers. The decoy can be useful as well, but you do get used to the sound of them.

Then with perks, starting off I'd go with Ghost, Steady Aim, Marathon if you're running SMG guns as hip-firing is very powerful up close. Or if you're running AR's I'd go for SOH as your perk 2. You could swap Ghost for Hardline and get your Killstreaks early, but with the amount of SpyPlanes up at the moment, I still think Ghost edges it. If you're playing a lot of DOM, unlock Flak Jacket as it's priceless to prevent getting nade'd while capping flags. Scavenger is worthless to start off with, as you're usually going to die too quickly to run out of bullets (or if you get on a nice streak, just pick up a better weapon from someone higher up the levels!).

The m16 is poo in this game:( It was 1 of my favs in mw2, I still think it looks better than any other gun and I love trying to be accurate with a burst fire gun, but it takes 2 sometimes 3 bursts with it in Black Ops:(

Just use the G11's when you unlock them. They're the beastly burst fire weapon in this game. :)

Ok, decided not to prestige. In MW2 I had two sniper classes, a dedicated s&d class, an anti-air class and an OMA (not noob tube) class. None of which I need here.
What swung it though was I managed to dissarm a sentry with Ghost. Respawned and surprised a guy carrying it in a corner of a map I haven't seen a sentry in like 3 months in MW2 and this was one of only two I've seen in Bops. Ghost Pro FTW!
M16 is awesome at range btw. Went 17-1 with it in Array yesterday. The one death coming from when I fell off the electric pylon thingy. Using the Famas at present but at distance the M16 is hard to fault, IMAO

All the b!tching about the M16 above - The guns in this game are far more realistic than the guns ever were in MW2 or even CoD4. If you prefer guns that require no skill to aim (ACR anyone? That thing had NO recoil whatsoever) then go back to MW2. I loved MW2 for the year it was out, but Blops is definitely more realistic in regards to the weapons and how they work

Yep, G11 is basically the same as the M16 in MW2, but has the drawback of not having any decent attachments. The scope is horrible to use on it.

If you could put a red dot and a suppressor on that gun it would be the best AR in the game by a long shot.

I think thats what makes the game balanced , it is a very good gun , so they dont want to make it too common by putting attachments like a red dot or a surpresser with it.
Iron sights suit me fine as i run iron sights on all of my guns

ya, I agree. The gun would be too good with attachments.

I also agree with iron sights. I still use red dot in some cases, but most of my setups have iron sights. They're much better in Blobs than in MW2. Probably just due to graphics improvement.

the attachments on the G11 are useless, but the iron sights are one of the best in the game, they dont get in your way too much, just like my beloved galil:D..anybody prestiged twice yet?..im level 42 first prestige, ill be prestiging 2nd time in a day or 2:)

I am LVL 48 PRESTIGE or so (I think lol) so I am due for a RAPING again. Do you lose all your money and **** again or just go 2nd prestige!!!! I mean I am only getting comfortable again now after my ass rape the 1st time. What do you lose now if I do prestige again, as I have over 100,000 cod money now

If you lose the weapons again now its a bit of a farce TBH, I mean it does not take that long to go through the whole level with a hint of skill and I have not even got all the weapons back. So how can they reset the thing again....major flaw if it does! :rolleyes:

No you don't lose anything the second time. In fact you get secret hidden weapons! And your points double. you should definitely prestige the second time, do it straight away. Don't even think about it just do it!
