Ugh, that didn't go so well. Didn't gain points, dropped them all over the place instead. Still don't know why, have about 7Gb of video files to go over to see if I can spot the problems from the outside.

Don't have the results of relay 1 but here's the results from relay 2:

Nice to see the return of a familiar name on the pistol side, with a pretty decent performance to boot!

Looks like just excess tension from the high NPAs and the horizontal spread. That's the thing about shooting matches in the evening, only so much you can do in terms of getting unwound for them.

That's pretty much what I'm thinking IWM. Want to check the video footage just to confirm, but I was feeling particularly scatterbrained during the shoot, so that does tally. And setting up the video cameras was a new element to deal with as well. I'm just going to have to make it part of my training routine from now on. I've got a camera mount at home that will clamp to the table and hold the camera at a set point, so it'll be of more use than a tripod; maybe that'll help:

(Something like this, but lighter and with longer arms and a different camera head)

Easier setup than a forward-of-the-firing-line tripod like last night:

Dublin's an ice rink, seems to be called off.

Even if it wasn't, the range has no internet, so you have to give .177 a while to get back to civilisation after the match (which won't end until nearly 1600, plus a good 40 mins to tidy up and shut down the range -- assuming the match went ahead, that is).

Yeah, but has it not been shot over the last few days??;)

    Just on thursday.
Though I'm trying to forget that particular detail :D
And .177 was waiting on a classification list when I was talking to him because he thought some of the classes he had were wrong (I came up as class C originally, for example).

There was a detail on Saturday also. Two new rifle shooters and Peter Friend who shot pistol to qualify for Intershoot.

    That was the Intershoot qualifier?

One of them anyway! Up on the website as a quali match. I'm sure there will be others as the entries are not due in until early January.

We should probably flag those matches a bit more widely ;)

Is a full list of qualifying scores and matches for each discipline upcoming?

Yep we shot at 10.30 and it was cold hard to keep my hand warm and an alarm was going off for most of the detail but shoot ok and put in a QS score for intershoot.:)

my thanks to all that put in the hard work to run the weekend

Thanks to all who turned out over the three days for the UCD Winter Open.
The competition lived up to it's name this year with very wintery conditions for both Saturday and Sunday.

The bad weather on Saturday and Sunday had a big impact on attendance. We were pleasantly surprised though, by the amount of people that were able to make it.

Congratulations to Peter on shooting a qualifying score for Intershoot in not the most ideal conditions.
The next he's coming over to compete it might be an idea to take out some insurance, atmospheric disturbances seem to be attracted to him ;)

Wierd results in some ways :D
I'm now very peeved that I got the highest number of inner tens and still managed to stuff up the overall score! Gah...
Mind you, the video footage was even more humiliating. You think you have a stable position, and then you watch yourself at x2-x4 speed during your hold and you notice that you're about as stable as a tall jelly in a hailstorm...

Thanks to John, as usual, for a very well organised and well-run event. It's probably my last match in UCD before my move to the US, but at least I went out on a good score :D
