I just heard Tony Killeen on Today FM's news stating that a loan is not a bailout; a loan is a commercial agreement and if you take out a loan you must pay it back.

Yes, Tony - that WAS the definition of a loan until your FF party redefined it so that some people didn't have to pay theirs back, depending on how well-connected they are.

Anyone else getting sick of the double-standards which seem to change every second day where it suits their current 24hr agenda ?

No wonder no-one has confidence in them. :(

The doings of the FF party over the past few weeks have deepened my distrust of them.

Whatever about the economic mismanagement, there are still things - fundamentals - one expects from a government. One expects to be represented properly as outlined in the constitution, and have the general notion of democracy respected. One expects a government to be honest with the people (within reason of course). Claiming that the IMF coming to Dublin does not amount to pre-bailout negotiations brings FF to a new blatant level of dishonesty.

When FF canvassers come to my door in the next election I don't be basing my response on the economy. I'll be basically saying "previously your party has denied this country basic its rights, like democratic representation, and has been completely dishonest in communicating with the public. Why would I trust your candidate as TD when he has a proven willingness to subvert democratic representation and honesty in pursuit of his aims? "

I said that on another thread somewhere. That's exactly what they are going to do. Take a bailout and spin it as a loan.

FF, the greatest bunch of liars to grace the face of government.

My late father often said that all Fianna Failers were crooks.

    He wasn't wrong!

My late Grandfather said much the same thing. A great man.

He (very obviously) wasn't wrong. When my son grows up, I'll tell him the same, with the added caveat that they're grossly incompetent, too.
