Drivers side window goes down but doesn't always want to come back up (needs manual intervention/assistance).

Is this the regulator (or the motor going slow)?

Is it expensive and how difficult to change?

    New parts or secondhand?

    1997 Civic.

    Thanks.

Try spray some rubber nylon spray on the window slides and see how it gets on. If that fails its probably the window regulator.

Or try silicon spray in the window rubbers, it'll do the same thing.

Failing that, take the door card off and grease any moving parts on the regulator. If you can, remove the motor and check it's moving freely.

Failing that, get a new regulator - I don't think they're that expensive from the main dealer. Don't bother with second hand unless it's dirt cheap and in very good condition.
