I know this probably isn't the best place for this question, but I took a look through all the site, and wasn't sure where it should go (travel section? Dealt more with holiday travel stuff), so I thought a mod like my Insect Overlord would be able to help me out.

So basically I'm leaving the country, moving back to Japan. Was great to be back, and I'll miss limerick FC more than I can say, but it's a good job.

And I'm looking for recommendations anybody might have on a company to ship (really, ship, not by air) some of our stuff, like books, some clothes, a set of golf clubs, other kinck-knacks we'll store carefully away in Tokyo and never see until we pack them up to ship them somewhere else. The company we used last time was great but they only ship from Japan, not to there, so I'm hoping people might be able to point me in the direction of a decent company.

    Thanks.

Hope you'll stay in touch with the forum, osarusan!

Unfortunately I've no idea where the best forum is for questions like that. The Travel Forum is going through some major changes at the moment. Have a go there anyway, they might be able to help.

Your next best bet is to post in this thread here.

There are a lot of Japanese culture enthusiasts on Boards. There's a chance some of them are living in Japan, or have been there recently. Put up a post saying you support the proposal for the new forum. Tell them you'll be moving back there soon. Tell them what you need help with and ask for advice to be sent via PM.

In the mean time, I'll leave the thread open here. You'd never know, someone in Limerick could end up finding exactly what you're looking for :)

    Thanks.

I posted it here as well - there wasn't much happening in the living abroad in Japan forum.

I'll look at the forum you linked later and check out whatever proposal you're talking about.

I not too sure if these would be of much help to you but http://www.careline.ie are an international moving company based in Limerick.

Another idea again I am not 100% sure this will work but if you could fit your things onto a pallet or two and wrap them you may be able to get someone like Shannon transport http://www.stllogistics.ie to ship the pallet to Tokyo for you.
EDIT: Scrap Shannon Transport - Only cover Europe as far as I can make out.

They may not suit your needs but might be worth a phonecall or two.

Here is another company that may be able to help you http://www.gemrelocations.com/
