    Hey guys,

I've only recently come to accept the fact that I am gay. I fought it for years, but now feel like I've loads of catching up to do. I've very few gay friends and was just wondering about the gay scene in Dublin (pubs/clubs etc) and how to get involved without actually knowing anyone first....

    Any advice would be great.

    Cheers

    M

    a few things -

    * there are meet ups on here - see 'queer beers' and also organised on gaire.com and queerId.com
    * if you have an interest in something e.g. Sports (every imaginable kind), music, theatre, reading, writing, juggling, dining, politics, etc there are different groups available - join some of them - GCN will give you a list but ask us if you have a particular interest
    * maybe drop into outhouse at 105 capel st - have a coffee, ask them what sort of groups are there

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Not sure if you're male or female, OP, but either way try looking up meetup.com. There's a particularly good lesbian group on there called Running Amach, but there are mixed and male groups too, so have a go. At some point everyone at those things are new, so people understand what it's like. :)
