Why put insulation in a wall cavity?

    Why do people put insulation in there cavitys sure they would be grand witout it, its just pointless i'll never understand no matter how many replys i get with good reasons for doing it.

    Im sure you are joking however, Im not a fan of partial fill cavity insulation myself. If its not fitted tight (as in equivalent of being sprayed to wall surface) I feel a large amount of its usefulness is being lost.
    If you have drafts in the cavity and any air is moving at the warm side of the insulation, this is surely limiting its usefulness.
