How do i cut out using and paying for data from o2 on my Iphone 4, when i can use the Wifi in the house. I bought the phone from the Apple online store, and got a micro sim from O2, i still have the package that i had on my old phone.I hope this makes sense as i am technically challenged. I bought the phone to try and improve on this.

    Settings > Wi-Fi

Choose a Network (select your home network, or enter the name if it doesn't show on the list)

Enter your network password if you have one.

When you're connected, you'll see the Wi-Fi bars (like a slice of pizza) to the right of your phone network name on the top of the iPhone screen.

When you see this, you're on Wi-Fi, and aren't paying for data.

I had all that up but there is a lock symbol before the Wifi bars.

In the Wi-fi settings screen? That just means it's password protected. Click on it, and it will ask for a password. Since it's your home network, you should have that.

Or do you mean you're seeing a lock beside the wi-fi bars on the top bar of the iPhone's screen? If that's the case, I've never encountered that before....

You can switch off data through your mobile network completely (you'll still be able to do everything on your WIFI network, and make calls of course) To do this go to settings->general->network->cellular data (switch off). If after doing this you can't use the internet you're not on any WIFI network...
