Do Sky seriously expect me to pay €100 to have my dish realigned whenever there's a gale? They could make an extra grand a year out of me in that case!!

I'm out of warranty with them, but in fairness, the pole and brackets that hold the dish, should be able to withstand a bit of wind from time to time

when they tell you the cost say put me through to cancellations, they should then agree to fix it for free.

Will give that a go thanks.
Will they do this each and every time though? ;)

Well it all depends where the dish is mounted and what kind of dish it is?

If its a mesh dish and mounted on the roof/chimney then your asking for trouble in windy conditions. Mesh dishes dont last long and are so prone to rusting very quickly, thus they move very easily. The mountings and fixings are not the strongest either and can easily be bent by strong wind, footballs etc.

A good solid galvanised dish mounted low and sheltered is what you want.

Also independant installers normally charge a lot less than sky to come out and can be quicker.

It certainly won't be a mesh dish but it might well be a perforated dish.
Dishes and brackets should always be painted to protect them from the weather.

Painting a perforated dish will not help one little bit.

A lot of people refer to them as mesh dishes. I understood what he meant by a mesh dish.

Absolute rubbish. If you clean and prepare the surface and use the correct type of paint, it will provide protection for many years.

Thanks all, advice taken and installer coming around to realign it for free.

Will try and talk him into putting a new dish on the side of the house, a bit more sheltered there as it's much lower.
My neighbours have theirs situated on the side wall, and have had no issues with their signal.

Plus, I'll be able to give it a "nudge" next time, if need be.
