Since midnight Mon night I ave started to use cruise control on my car when out and about.
    Yesterday..>>> Smack...>> Stone hits windscreen

Today A.M >>> Stone hits windscreen

Today P.M .>>> A big SMACK....!!!! To call it a stone would be putting it mild... Took a big bloody chip out of my screen...!!

This would never have happened only for this blasted speed limit...

Are these windscreen repairs a good job????

Are you blaming the cruise control and speed vans for the stones?!

Yeah that glass stuff is supposed to be good, never used it myself.
Ask a professional for a quote first. Could be cheap.

i'm confused. what's the speed limit got to do with stones hitting your window?

what windscreen repairs? it's an optional extra with most insurance policys and some have it as standard - and usually it doesn't effect your policy or claims history. read up your policy t+c.

Sorry but I'm not seeing the relevance of keeping to the speed limit (using cruise control or otherwise) and stones hitting your windscreen. Is it that you mean you'd outrun the stones by driving faster??

    I'm confused too

At a higher speed, the stone hitting your windscreen would do more damage. In fact its a square law:

    Energy of Stone = (0.5)(Stone Weight)(Velocity Squared)

So the fast you going it gets much worse!

Bad luck is all it is vectra. The repairs are grand. I'd avoid replacing a screen as much as possible though. I wouldn't mess with seals if it can be avoided

Just to put in context for all that find it hard to understand..

Before these speed cameras came along it was a lot easier to stay IN FRONT of most traffic and hence avoiding flying stones etc.
Basically never had this happen before...
Now I have 3 hits in 24 hours..
All 3 were from cars/vans that overtook me while i was sticking to within the speed limit
kind of sums it up.. :o

ON saying that I was amused to see 200mpg show up on my screen today while going downhill on the Fermoy bypass @ 115kph :D

    On the repair subject,
I have full comp so would assume I have windscreen cover?
    Must check my policy ;)
