For some reason unknown to me my password for my laptop won't work. Tried everything i can think of. I logged on and it worked fine, them a while later tried to log on again and it says incorrect password.
Sometimes it will accept it, load for a minute them ask me again sayin it was incorrect
Is there anyway around this? I didn't know about password reset using usb so that option is gone. Its a dell so can't boot from cd as they don't supply one.
    What can i do?

Try and start up in SAFE MODE.
You can access SAFE MODE by repeat pressing of the F8 key when you power up..
This should give you access to the main menu.

Nope tried that too. Select safe mode and it still asks for password.

Had this issue at my last job, where I went on holiday for two weeks then couldn't remember the cryptic password I had set when I got back (forgot to leave a postit with all my passwords on it under my keyboard also, lol :p)

I used the TRK to reset the password. Just burn it to a CD and follow the instructions.

I used this before with much success. It turned out the password I was using was right, but I then realised the problem was that I used the @ symbol in the password I set. My keyboard strangely enough was set as a USA keyboard before windows login, even though its a UK keyboard, therefore every @ key press was registered as a " as the password was added while logged in.

Ophcrack is good, but if you don't want to wait for it to crack the password you could use the Offline NT password and registry editor to reset the password altogether.

Use a password reset disc, rainbow table cracking can take too long.
