    Hi All,

Looking for some help here please. I am wondering is it possible to get a docking station that allows you to transfer my music that is currently on a MP3 player/CDs to my ipod while on the docking station. I know that there is docking stations that allow you to play a CD or your MP3 player as well as the ipod but I was looking to put them all on the one device while sitting of the dock...
    Thanks in advance
    H

Absolutely not, music can only be put on to an iPod with iTunes. While in a docking station you can play music from an iPod but not transfer anything into it.

You can add the CDs to the iPod but you have to do it using iTunes. Go into iTunes, click on Edit, then Preferences. On the 'General' tab you will see in the lower half of the screen an option 'When you insert a CD:' and there is a box beside it where you can select options, I suggest you set it to 'Ask to import CD', then when iTunes is running and you insert a CD you will be presented with an option to import the tracks to the iTunes library from where you can sync the new music to the iPod.

Note the option below this 'Automatically retrieve CD track names from Internet', this is a very useful feature which is highly recommended to use. When you import a CD into iTunes, there is no track information on the CD to identify the track or artist names so the tracks would normally come up called Track 1, Track 2 etc. which is no good if you intend putting the music on the iPod. If you have this option ticked and the PC is connected to the Internet when you import the CD, it will get the track data from the Internet, every CD has a unique identifier, iTunes passes this up to a site on the Internet and it gets back a list of track and artist names which will then appear on the iTunes screen.

One more setting to consider: 'Import Settings', if you set this to mp3 encoder the tracks will be stored in a portable (mp3) format which will allow you to copy the files to another mp3 player (not necessarily Apple), otherwise the tracks will be encoded in such as way that they will only play on an Apple device.
