I have a 2005 Saab 93 diesel Automatic saloon. I have recently encountered a jump in the gearbox, which would seem to be the pressure valves. I brought it to the garage and they changed the oil in the box. however if that did not work they recommended a new gearbox @ €4,400! Has anyone any suggestions?

Autoboxes are not fun when they go bad. Check with Traynors, maybe get an autobox specialist to give you an opinion. Does it still jump after the ATF change? Was the filter changed as well?

    From HJ:
1.9 diesel autos vulnerable to failure of heat exchanger in radiator admitting coolant to the ATF and wrecking the transmission. On cars just out of warranty GM SAAB will usually contribute 40%.

The above can happen to a lot of automatic cars.
