We all know by now that Shrooms is a big steaming pile of cow **** but lets take a look why.
The movie was clearly made by people who have no interest in the genre.
    1. The characters are unlikable, who cares what happens to them.
    2. The gore and suspence do not exist in this movie, slasher movies rely heavily and well stages chase scenes and gory deaths, Shrooms had none of this.
    3. The twist ending, um, yeah, I don't even need to explain, what a cop out, it was old hat, even by the time this came out.

Movies like this piss me off. It's one of those teen slashers that tries to be more than what it really is, but unfortunately winds up being worse than the sub-genre that it’s trying to upstage.

That's not necessarily fair; In Bruges, Perrier's Bounty, Intermission - they're all amazing movies and they're Irish.

Perrier's Bounty was an absolutely dreadful piece of cinema. So much talent squandered in what would 10 years ago have been recognised as a piss poor Lock Stock rip off.

But they aren't horror, we need a decent horror movie.

You need to watch the first 30 - 40 mins of Isolation then make up your own ending, the closest to a good Irish horror you will get

I fell off my chair laughing at how bad it was. A decent idea poorly executed.

Oh yeah I remember Ten Steps... cant believe the film lasts ten minutes. Absolutely nothing happens in the middle 8 minutes.

I thought 'Ten Steps' was ok...up until that howler of an ending. So cheesy.

    Watch The Eclipse then.

I found it genuinely chilling in places and Ciarán Hinds is excellent as the lead. Still surprised that this film doesn't get mentioned more often in threads about Irish Cinema.
