An advert promoting Beyonce's perfume has been banned during daytime television for being unsuitable for young children.

The Advertising Standards Authority ruled that the ad, featuring various scenes of the the pop star lying naked, touching her breast and dancing seductively in a revealing dress, was too "sexually provocative" to be shown before 7.30pm.

The ASA received 14 complaints that the ad was offensive and unsuitable for broadcast when children might be watching.

Defending the ad, perfume company Coty said it was not overtly graphic or explicitly sexual, adding that Beyonce was not naked at any point.

The ad was aimed at a young adult audience and was consistent with, if not less graphic, than many music videos, the company said.

So it's suitable for kids who are awake after 7:30pm. So most 8 year olds...

Kids can see something more revealing walking down the road. Any seductive manner would also go over the kids head not knowing what was going on. Doesn't really matter imo

Probably what the advertising company was hoping for, now they don't have to bother paying for ad space everyone will go looking for it.

Oh yeah, it's definitely in the same league as Cillit Bang & Harvey Norman ads isn't it. If ads were like this, I'd actually watch them. And it's no worse than any of her music videos, which can be watched by anyone at any time of the day. Ridiculous crap is ridiculous*.

*Not Kraggy's post, but the banning of the ad.
