My electricity was out all day today and I was wondering if durning a power outage I could light my stove which has a back boiler or would the fact that my pump was not working affect it?

You might get away with lighting the stove if it heats the hot water by "gravity feed".

If it gets too hot,you can run a bath/have a shower to "dump" excess

    heat from the system.

Dont light a fire unless you are certain that the hot water heats without a pump being on.

    Boilers hate boiling!!!!!

It should be a vented system, so the water would boil off into the F&E tank if needed.

Don't know if it is a vented system or not but the house is only 8 years old so maybe vented systems are standard in new houses.Maybe best idea is not to light stove and use an open fire with no back boiler.

    Thanks for the advice.:o
