Moved in to new house 4 months
i have a oil underfloor heating system in my house ,
both downstairs and upstairs use this system
I was wondering can anyone tell me what time setting they have the heating on , all rooms are zones with upstairs and downstairs also seperated.

i was thinking of putting it on for 2 hours on the morning then 3 in the evening ? does this sound normal ??????

    Thanks

Nearly all underfloor manufacturers would tell you that the best way to control the system would be to leave it on 24/7 and use the stats to control it.

If you have good stats with timers built in set the 'on' periods that you want heat at 21deg and the 'off' periods at say 17 Deg....its not really on as such all the time; at the lower setting it will just sup a little oil in v. cold weather but won't take too long to respond either.

If the price of oil is killing you get the grant of SEAI (before they get rid of it!) and dock a heat pump to your oil boiler or even get rid of it - I use a heat pump and reckon its 1/3 of the price of the oil I used to use.

    thanks
Every room has temp setting controler in it that can be changed from 16deg to 24degrees ,
then i have a timer controler in the utility that has 3 timer setting for the day and 3 zone , one downstairs one up stairs one hot water , i have not really had the heating on only the last 3/4 weeks and house was warm enought in the summer ,
so you think setting each room to 20/21 deg and have it on all day is the best option ?? on ave how many liters of oil should i burn in 12month period ??
    2000-3000 ???

How big is your house? ..that and how warm you like to be / how well is it insulated etc will determine the oil burn. Oil is cheaper than LPG gas, or using electric fires!....but it's almost double the cost of natural gas (I'm sure Bord Gais will want to play catch-up soon) and three times the cost of using a heatpump which is what we have.

Try the stats set at 21 from 7:00 till 10:00 / 18 during the dat back to 21 from 16:00 to 23:00
