was having this conversation with a friend of mine - as he had been contacted about some potential jobs in Anglo. Now i do not mean this to start some kind of bashing of their staff. I think most people imagine/know that most if not all of the people currently working there were just normal staff and not carrying on in the manner of senior management or making those kind of gains.

what I am looking for opinions on is whether you think even having it on your cv now - (as part of the clean up) would still damage your cv down the road? would you be constantly explaining the timeline to people in 6 years time - i.e. employers wondering whether you were before or after the problems.

I don't mean this in a 'last job on earth' type of way - if you weren't desperate - would you consider it? even if other options?

    thanks
    O

I'd jump at a good job in Anglo Irish.
Though I won't be using their umbrella around town ;)

I know two people in there. It's a job like any other.
The public knows lower staff weren't on the board of directors.

And industry staff looking at your CV one day should know this too.
And they'll know your start date and the current timeline of all that's happening

They were hiring in my area of work not too long ago. I was contacted regarding a contract position there but the job was not advertised as Anglo Irish Bank. Id imagine that it would be an extremely tough place to work. I dont see how it would be a bad thing to have on your C.V. nowadays. It's experience and its better than spending time on the dole.

I wouldnt be too worried about it, but I am not sure how stable it would be?

I hear they have to pay over the odds for staff now as no one wants to work there.

Depending on what your friend ends up doing it might actually be a positive - if they get involved in the finance/restructuring side of things it could be fantastic experience and something that future employers would find very interesting.

Having a ring side seat and being involved in the implementation of any Anglo restructuring could be very cool for anyone interested in some aspects of finance.

Personally I would have no problem. However I do feel you would get a lot of abuse form ignorant people. I even remember a story of an employee committing suicide due to the stress from idiots

Stable? Sure we are paying for the whole thing and so is the IMF and EU now. It will be as stable as an place.

My landlord works for them but he doesn't talk about it much. He has a very specific skills set so I can't work out why he hasn't left yet.
