Blocked fuel pump in Ford Focus 02

    Hi,
I was looking for advice on what to do next with our ford focus 02 (diesel). Mechanic tells me the fuel pump has been totally blocked, beyond repair.Turns out the fuel filter had not been replaced for a very long time, silly me! the fuel filter has been replaced, still not running.
I have lost faith in the car, but would like to trade it in and get something back for it. Is it worth looking for a second hand fuel pump, and hope that works? Mr. mechanic seems to think its only good for the scrap yard.
wher could i find a second hand fuel pump? living in county Cork.
    Any ideas most welcome,
    Treeplanter.

If its a TDDI Focus then you can usually get an exchange pump fitted. Ring around a few of the diesel specialists and get the best price. A recon pump (if done properly) is plug and play and does not need to be coded to the ECU. Cost wise, I reckon somewhere around €650 for a replacement pump, plus labour to fit it.

Your mechanic should scan the car for fault codes to confirm that the pump is dead, and that you don't have an electrical or immobilser fault.
