    Hi there

Am thinking of using a well known cartoon character in a newspaper Ad for our shop.

Does anyone know how to get permission from the owners of the character to use it? Do i need to contact the company directly, or is there a third party website by any chance?

Did an Ad using an image from istockphoto.com, it cost 15$ for permission to use it, which was fine. I'm guessing it wouldn't be so cheap to get permission for a copyrighted character...

    Thanks
    John

You definitely need permission from the license holder. If you sell some of their licensed product request the manufacturer of the products ask for permission on your behalf, based on the intention of the ad to sell more product. Other than that its very unlikely you'll get permission without forking out big bucks as to associate with an unknown business can be dangerous to them.
