Cleaning Old Carts

Anyone suggest a good way to clean up the front of old game carts. I have bought games online and they have permanent market written on front and back etc.

I know how to clean the connectors themselves and have a gamebit purchased, i just cant for the life of me shift the permanant marker without damaging the cart itself.

    Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Al.

Permanent marker isn't going to come off without solvent and that will melt the case. You could try and sand it off and then evenly sand the rest of the case to match.

two nes carts have writing. lifeforce and gold zelda cart.

dont want to sand them as it will discolor cart compared to the rest of it. I could just relist them on ebay and but new ones if it comes to it but would like a way. tried the wd40 as suggested. didnt do much to be honest. Might try vanish or another laundry scrub n see how i get on. at the very least they'll smell great :)

Hmm, well if wd-40 alone didn't work, try wd-40 mixed with a little windowlene, I've used that too to get marker off carts. Don't know if it makes a difference, but they were snes carts that it worked on for me.

Edit: Not sure if I'd try it on the Zelda cart, might remove the gold colouring.

a LIGHT bit of sanding and a bottle of sticker remover (use sparingly) are pretty much how you remove crap from cartridges.(the sticker remover is for when rental companies get a bit gung ho with labels btw)
