I have decided to downgrade my current TV package with UPC, basically getting rid of the movies and sports which I hardly watch, so I am going for the Value HD+ package.

An enginneer is coming out to me on Saturday to set up the new box

Basically my question is will I lose all the programmes which I had saved on my old box when they put in the new HD+ box?

No way of saving them digitally, no. You could make an analogue archive of them all onto a DVD recorder by playing them in real-time via the SCART output if you're that desperate.

just a pity as I had a few series links going!

Maybe cancel the switch to the HD box? You'll only get one HD channel on Value anyway - BBC HD.

You do get a HMDI output though with the DVD HD+ box, so at least the SD channels should look better.
