Spam mails from M C about photography courses in dublin

Can I just ask has anyone here recieved any spam emails from an english based photographer offering training courses in Dublin (initials M C) ?

If so do you know where they got the email address list from ?

Did you register for the photo vision roadshow in Croke park back in September? Thats possibly where they the addresses from.

I got the email to but I don't consider it spam

No I didn't - I did register for that in about 2007 though so that could be where they got it from. I would call it spam however as it's unsolicited marketing.

Is there really such a thing as solicted marketing? Like, by your definition, bus stops are a source of spam, as are TV and magazines.

I got it too, and presumed it was from the Photovision list, so don't consider it spam. FWIW I thought he gave an interesting enough talk at Photovision so don't mind getting the mailshot!

At the bottom of the email, it says the Registration Data is from www.forwardevents.co.uk, which run Photovision, so that'll be where my details came from

Got the email as well, heard him talking at Focus in March and he had some interesting things to say

if you provide your email address for registration purposes, it shouldn't be sold on to an ad agency.

I'm fairly sure there was an opt in/out that I didn't uncheck, or checked or whatever. Either way, it doesn't bother me (and I don't think it's a third party agency, Cleghorn is fairly tight with the Photovision fellas)

I exhibited at photovision this year as part of the cost i got all the email addys etc of the people that opted in

I have started getting these from 'Aperture Photography', about 10 in the last two weeks. Looks like that email list was sold on once more.

MC - Martin Cleghorn I think. I get them every so often and have since unsubscribed.
