Im looking to buy a used car and have test driven a few at this stage, but I have come across A Kia Proceed.
This car looks class and drives like a dream much better than a golf, passat and seat Leon which I have drove. Its supposed to do atleast 50 miles to the gallon. The car Im looking at has low milage and also comes with a 5 year warranty. Its a 1.6 diesel and is pretty rapid with 115 bhp. Its also cheeper than all the cars in its class and has a much better spec.

So Im thinking there must be a catch somewhere.
Has anyone any experience of these and is there something im missing ?

Look like a fine car to me. Brand snobbery probably means they are a bit cheaper than the likes of the golf/focus etc.

My sisters boyfriend has one and she has the normal ceed. Zero problems with either. Great diesel engine and good spec. If you plan on keeping it a few years you'll have trouble free motoring with the warranty to look after anything non wear and tear.

Just make sure that the service schedule has been adhered to rigourously. If it hasn't then it voids the warranty.

Apart from that, I think they are a cracking motor to drive, and the engine is superb.

We have a couple of van versions on fleet, and have recently had an issue with one. More than likely caused by the fact it's 2 years old with 42,000km and had never seen the inside of garage. Ran dry of oil and is now back on the road with a €7,000 new engine.

hmm... sound like it might actually be a good car.
Think Il go back to test drive it before purchasing.

Test drive a few. Don't judge a car after driving just one

I take it that was FOC under warranty? I wouldn't expect any car to run dry of oil after only 2 years and slightly bigger than average mileage, even if the oil was never checked and the car was never serviced.

Neighbour just had a €2,500 DMF / timing belt / service done on his 3 year old Kia just outside of warranty. Silly money to be spending on a nearly new econobox imho.
