who pays substitue teachers

    Hi there,

    I have just qualified as a primary teacher and have gotten a few days subbing here and there. I havent been paid for these days however and I was wondering who should i contact in relation to this? Im not sure if it should be the dept of education or paypal.

    Its usually the Department, sometimes the school that pays for subbing. You probably need to ring payroll in the Department and check if your hours were submitted first.

    Usually, it's the Dept who pays, but I have heard of schools paying subs out of their own funds when the sub is covering a course day. The process is fairly slow and usually takes a few weeks, but this can be compounded by the school not submitting the hours to the Dept.

    Ring the Dept.

    Yeah rang the dept and they have me a date to say my arrears would be paid on Monday the 6th of December which I thought was strange cos it wasn't on a Thursday

    The payment goes through on the Monday but clears in the bank on the Thursday...
