DTT/SAT Combo boxes can do this but the 7 day EPG for freesat isn't availible .

See this thread for combo boxes. http://boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056086354

I know there's no combo box that does the 7day epg but thinking about it wouldn't the freesat tvs listed here http://www.freesat.co.uk/products/hd-tv-range also have a dvb-t tuner and therefore do a 7day epg for RTE and Freesat ?

Can the EPG be combined for DVB-T and DVB-S on these sets?

Certainly there are sets that combine.

Also on sets or Setbox with MHEG5, the Interactive (when RTE ever launch one) will work on both as it depends which channel you are on as to which MHEG application is launched.

No, on the official Freesat TVs, you get two separate 7-day EPGs AFAIK.

Freesat EPG uses Huffman coding/compression/MHEG-5 whereas Freeview uses DVB-SI.

Still though, not a bad solution I think. No box and 7 day guide for all channels (even if they are separate) I wonder if you can get some sort of pvr to attach to these tvs then?

Correct, it will never be possible to have a combined Saorview/freesat epg, a combined Saorview/freeview epg works as has been posted by Black Briar, to mention just one.

Even if Saorview does launch an MHEG-5 epg it will not be possible to combine both (separate appplications). Didn't see any mention of an MHEG-5 epg in the recent Saorview content consultation only Digital Teletext.

Cush, can you have a combined Saorview/Free to air sat epg on a combo box ? I know free to air sat box would only have now and next, but that wouldn't matter.

Apogee, forgive my ignorance, but can all the boxes listed below ( including the cheaper ones ), show a combined epg, eg:

    1 RTE1
    2 RTE2
    3 TV3
    4 TG4
    5 RTE News Now
    6 BBC1
    7 BBC2

    etc etc

and where does the 7day epg for satellite come from on some of the boxes, as I thought only Sky and Freesat, broadcast 7 day epg's on satellite ?

Thanks. More tempting to get one, knowing that. However, I suppose a full check of the spec before purchasing is advised anyway.
