Can you get Semolina anywhere nowadays?

I remember when you could get it in a tin, but it was quite slimy looking - I preferred it homecooked!

My dear neighbour (now RIP) used to make stewed rhubarb with sago mixed through it - it was delicious!

I think Shamrock still do packets of Semolina. Should be in most supermarkets.

Yes shamrock still do it, my mother use to get it in a box with a type of green tartan packaging. Can't say I ever had Sago.

I hated lambs hearts, too rubbery.

Yummy - tinned creamed rice and semolina (not together).
How about custard and apple (stewed) - question is do you want custard with your apples or some apples with your custard.

Or rhubarb & custard v's custard and rhubarb.

Used to have liver on a Thursday - think the idea was to build us up for the fish on friday, in case we missed the iron or something.

    No to the kidneys though.

Pickled Pork and Tripe in milk sauce was a saturday afternoon dish in my Granny's and boiled Crubeen's (pig's feet) after the pub.

Always hated sago, semolina and tapioca but loved hearts - they were big hearts, though; don't think they were lamb's. Can you still get hearts in Dublin and (what would be even better) can you get pickled ox tongue? If so, where?

    Bleurgh!

HTF did a thread about pleasant puddings turn into a gruesome one about eating tongues, feet, hearts, stomachs....
