Galway to Dublin Direct

Hoping to take the Citylink bus direct from Galway City to Dublin Airport, needless to add, to catch a flight!

I am not familiar with Galway city and just wondering where would I get this bus and if anyone has experience of this service, do they get there pretty much on time? Not opting for the multi-stop.

I also looked at Aer Arann and the cost of one way flight to Dublin from Galway is pretty good as well around €29.

    Thanks

Hey, Go Bus and Citylink leave from the Sean Duggan coach station on Forster Street. It is a large glass building near Eyre Square. Kinda depends if you are driving to it or walking which way you may approach it but you can't miss it.
If you know where the Raiddison (sp) and the Tourist office is then aim for them and you will see it.
If you are walking from Eyre Square then go past the Train Station walk along Forster St with the park behind you, walk till you come to the traffic lights with Tourist office on your right and the big glass building in front!!

Google maps may help. I am not great at copy and paste with the maps but hopefully soemthing comes out on this !!

It's marked SD on the Galway city major bus stops map.

The non-stop services generally keep to the timetable pretty well.

But there's always the chance of something going wrong (eg accident on the motorway), so I wouldn't cut it too fine for a flight.

If you can live with the carbon guilt it's really handy to fly but j think Galway Airport charges 10 euro airport tax now as well but I'm not 100% sure about this.

I've used both non-stop bus services and they've been on-time (even Friday evenings through Dublin City Centre). They're very convenient. Details of the stops and timetables on their websites.

I need to get a bus to Dublin Airport also on Thursday - would anyone recommend GoBus over Citylink or vice versa?

Are either prone to delays / bad time keeping?

    Who to pick?

Both are very reliable. the only problems can come if you are trying to get out of Galway between lunchtime and about 6pm on a friday evening. Traffic can sometimes be horrific and has added up to an hour to journey times (thats an extra hour just getting to the start of the M6 at Doughuiska). Other than that I've found both to be consistently either on or ahead of time.

They both seem to be fairly similar these days but in the past I found Gobus to have less delays.
Overall I much prefer the service standard with Gobus.

You can also go with BusÉireann for €17 return. Their timetables say 2h 40m to the airport

Here's the Coach Station on Open Street Map. If you zoom out you can see where the Coach Station is in relation to Eyre Square, the Railway Station...etc.

Here it is on Google Street View (so you'll know what it looks like).

Have never tried GoBus but id recommend City Link. It has free wi-fi (great if you're travelling alone) and from my experience it has never been late.

I usually take GoBus, I like their service. They also have free on-board Wifi. And they are usually on time or close to it, I took it one busy Friday afternoon and was only 15 minutes late. I wouldn't bother with Bus Eireann, it took me four hours to get to Maynooth once, absolute hell!

I flew to Dublin the other week and got my connecting flight from there. Very handy!
