Sbavdv.sys in Vista

Computer, running Windows Vista won't start in normal or safe-mode.
Error message "C:\windows\system32\drivers\sbavdv.sys is corrupt"
On investigation the file sbavdv.sys is of size 0 bytes.
Googling sbavdv.sys yields no results.
Anyone know what this file is used for and/or where a clean copy could be found?
Any help appreciated.

have you uniinstalled anything recently

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 sfc is a program that will rebuild system files , but won't do anything for non-microsoft files

odd that it's not on google

suggest you run a virus scan
if clean then run ccleaner to remove unused startup entries

Ok since you can't boot try one of these bootable antivirus disks - there are others

Is it possible to edit the windows registry without Windows loading?
