Just curious...I'm living over in North Dakota for a while, and everyone over here gets very exited about deer season. I was surprised to hear that the deer season here is just 16 days! And you're pretty much limited to 1 deer.

What's the season in Ireland, and is there a limit on how many you can take in a season? I don't hunt myself but I was always under the impression it was the same as the general game season, which I thought was October to December.

deer season here in Ireland starts in September for male deer and ends in December
november for female or antler-less deer untill February
it can vary a bit but that's about it

as you said every one over there in N Dakota gets excited most likely a huge ammount of the population goes hunting compared to here something along the lines of 4000 for ireland and 125,000 for N Dakota

yeah everyone here does it - everywhere I go I hear people talking about it, women and all! There is a season and limit on just about everything over here including fish, but they need it!

Actually they were unlucky because the first week of the season here was unusually warm, I talked to one guy who didn't bother going for a deer at all because of that, didn't want the risk of it going off I suppose. There's another problem you'll never have in Ireland.
