    Hi,

Hoping not to get slammed here as I'm assuming the question has been asked before but I have searched and could only find one thread related to Post VRT.

Basically I got my import car VRT'd today after a load of costs here and there all over the shop (so not worth it, but thats for another thread).

Anyway, I was told I could tax it on Motortax.ie with my Reg No. and Chassis number as a pin. No joy, either I'm missing something or it takes a while to go through the system?

Can I drive the car anyway? it is insured now.

Any idea of the turn around time or where I should go to get it done or should I sit it out and will the Gardai accept it as a reason for not being taxed?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Muff.

Try just the last 6 digits of the chassis number as the PIN.

Hi MYOB, yeah thats what i was trying, thanks tho. i'm just a bit surprised as you'd think the VRT rep giving me all the doco back would say something about a lagging period of getting on to the system.

Others have been told of it taking a few weeks, from reading other threads here.

Check if the reg shows up on cartell.ie and motorcheck.ie yet for starters.

Try it in about 24 Hours, it generally takes that long for the car to appear on the motor tax system, IMO you can drive on, if its questioned why you have no tax, explain to a gaurd and you should be ok for a day or 2

Thanks lads, I'll give it a go after 24 hours and see how it goes, might be worth posting for others to know to. As I say it was odd if it is down to a delay in getting on the system the vrt/nct person didnt mention it.
