Haven't drove the Fiesta, but I'm a big fan of the VW Polo.. zippy reliable cars. But a lot of people swear by Fiestas.

My last two cars have been Polo's however.

Are you looking for a starter car?

How long is a piece of string? Which models of each are you on about?

Ah, if that's the case i'd go for a fiesta 1.25 (ghia if possible), it's much better than the 1.0l engine found in the Polos of that age.

I agree. Fiesta 1.25 is a miser on juice and goes very well in the car. Polls of that period were underpowered and unreliable. In no way worth the premium

The old Polo was a bit like a tin can, but even the 1 ltr was very lively and completely reliable. Sadly they put a new, heavy body on the same engine and the liveliness vanished, though it was still a very reliable car which didn't cost any more than normal services and tyres in the 8 years we had it.

    +2 on the fiesta...
and if u can get the 1.25 zetec you will love it...

I'd be another one in favour of the Fiesta, the 1.25 was a cracking engine.

Haven't driven a fiesta but my '04 Polo is a whopper car, couldn't ask for a nicer one.
Either one is a good choice in fairness so it's win win :) test drive both and see which feels better.

    +3 on the Fiesta
I have an 04 Steel at the moment and love it

No contest imo. 2001/2002 old shape Fiesta Ghia models had air conditioning, cd player, alloy wheels, etc. More bang for your bucks than a similar year Polo that didn't even have electric front windows and the 1.25 litre Zetec engine was a little gem in it too.

Fiesta all the way for value for money.
