Hi, I am in my final year at college and I am having a really hard tiime at the moment, I understand that it is inevitable that things will be tougher in your final year but I just really am not coping with things at the moment, I can't seem to get myself motivated and I am having a very hard time being able to concentrate, I also have been feeling very anxious and have also been suffering from [what I believe to be] physical signs of anxiety such as insomnia, constant tiredness, I can't breath properly, very quick to anger etc.
I believe that I have maybe scared myself because it is my last year but I am really falling behind and I don't seem to be able to do anything about it....
I'm really at a loss for what to do or where to turn right now....things just seem to be getting worse....

    anybody got any advice?

i've been there - in fact i am there. had a breakthrough today - just start working on something small and build it up form there. it's like eating an elephant - seems impossible but you have to start with a small bite. dont get overwhelmed. theres still time.

I am pretty sure that somewhere on the campus at your college there has to be a counsellor or an advisory person to whom you could speak with.

Have a check at your college or have a look at their website and find out what's available.

There are people out there who can help you.

Also, take one thing at a time, don't take everything, ( all your issues ) together as I can only guess that is exactly what you are doing. The most important thing you have to do is have a plan, sort yourself out and all the problems and stuff will ease or go away.

Having a plan is doing something about it, leave it and it will only get worse

I wish you the best of luck

I feel the exact same OP!! I am also in fourth year, doing a science degree and the work load this year is unreal! its a very lonely year as I spend alot of time in the lab where there are no others from my course there. As the other posters have said take each day at a time and do the work bit by bit.....its easier said than done of course when you lack motivation which I do alot of the time. I suppose im writing this just to say that you are not alone out there and the majority of students in final year are probably feeling the same as you are but just dont show or say it. Maybe talk to to them to see how they are coping. Maybe meet up to do assignments together or something. But ye fourth year sucks!!!

    Very similar situation!

At this very moment Im contemplating of pulling out
of a module that I am failing miserably!
It means coming back and starting it again next September.
And fee's that I cant Afford...

But, Im sooooo stressed and have such a workload now that im getting 3 hours sleep a night half the time, not eating and generally rather emotional and depressed. Although its gonna be so hard to have to come back again next year and do it all over again, I think for the sake of my current sanity and health its a decision I really HAVE to make.
    Forth year is sooooo stressfull!
    you are not alone!

The college counselling service is free. For God sake use it!
