Late semester change of course

Hello I am doing an arts course at the moment, and hate one my subjects with a passion and fear I may even fail it. I am wondering if it is possible to make a change of course this late in the semester. Another thing is that the course I would be interested in transferring to, I have not been attending the lectures so far, so would it be in any way possible to catch up at this stage.

    Thanks.

I dunno if you can, but I sure as hell wouldn't! I switched from History to Music in the second week and found it hard enough catching up! Also a lot of courses would have assignments and possibly mid-term tests done at this stage..? Are you sure you're doing that badly?

I doubt you can change at this stage, you've registered for your classes, it's too late to catch up properly, you may have missed continuous assessments in class assessments and the likes which can make up a high percentage of your over grade. . Whether you can change at all depends on several things too. Are you doing Arts/Law and Arts/Arts + something else/European studies? If so you can probably change at the end of first year but I sincerely doubt you can change in the middle of November, there's only like a month of lectures left sure. Would you consider getting grinds in the subject so as not to fail it? It's only for the rest of the semester (well, depending on the course you'll have vastly different modules in second semester) so may be worth it, even if you only scrape a pass.

If you're taking arts (depending on the subject I think..) you can go in to second year if you fail one subject (without having to sit repeat exams) as long as you're not taking the subject on to second and third year, assuming you don't absolutely fail beyond recognition that is. If you have failed by say about 5% they can allow you to pass first by compensation once you agree to drop the subject you failed. I'm not 100% certain about this so ask with the Academic Advice people.

Go talk to the Academic advice people in the Arts block and they'll help point you in the right direction. If you really hate it, it might be worth dropping out and getting your half fees for next year and then starting with the actual course you want to do. But, like I said, the AA people will know what the best course of action is.

    Best of luck :)
