Recruitment companies

I have been looking and applying for jobs for about 2 months. For the last 3 weeks I have been looking abroad, mainly US - then I found a potential position/job in Maryland. To my surprise I found an identical job offered in Dublin by www.rightfit.ie and when I say identical I mean word for word identical.
Now it seems that this job in Ireland just doesn't exist - it was lifted directly from the US site and planted as a bogus teaser on the RightFit website.

Is there anyone regulating this kind of behaviour? It' tough enough trying to find a job nowadays without these sort of cowboy practices.

    Ed Lacey

Not a "Consumer Issue". Moved instead to Work & Jobs

They have a logo at the bottom of their website saying that they are a member of the National Recruitment Federation (http://www.nrf.ie/), a trade body which claims to have as it's aims to establish and maintain standards and codes of practice for the Recruitment Industry in Ireland, you could start by reporting them to this body and see what happens.

But at the end of the day you'll probably find that the company is registered in the British Virgin Islands, the website is hosted in the Isle of Man and the directors are retired pensioners living in the Channel Islands so there's shag all you can do about it.

Whats the point in harvesting CVS anyway? What do they do with them?

Who cares? OP you can still give somebody a headache, even if the owners are off on a luxury yacht somewhere, someone put that job up, and someone else let them. Complain to your hearts content and make someones day as miserable as they made yours.

Thanks for the heads up on the trade body and even though I am pretty sure it will be futile I am going to at least pursue it a little further.

What really annoys me is that I think I have unwittingly been 'duped' before. Found an ideal position - sent in my CV - been contacted to say that post has gone but they had other posts I may like and could they put my CV on file - original post remains on website. How do you know if a post is real or if they are just fishing for CVs.

OP I'm a recruiter and hate when people complain but then do nothing about it so fair play on that one. If you follow this through keep screen grabs of original and Irish ads, and copies of all correspondence with nrf.

I would love to hear what you are told by governing body so please keep us updated!!

One Q - how do you know the Irish job doenst exist? (ie is it freasible they stole the job description through laziness as opposed to not having a corresponding job)

Send them to companies in the hope of getting a hit, I assume. A former employer of mine, who recently rebranded, contacted me a few months ago because a recruitment agent sent my CV to them on spec as available for work. I never asked them to do so, hadnt spoken to them in years and wasnt even looking for work. The CV was years old also.
