Hi, I have a 1994 BMW 525tds which I think is coming to the end of its life. It still has an NCT till next april but there is a bit of rust on the sills and an electrical problem that is draining the battery when it's not driven for a few days, and the engine needs a tune up. basically, it's not worth fixing, but how much could it be worth in parts or for scrap?

I don't want to get ripped off so any advice would be very appreciated.

leave it in the yard & break her yourself, youll make a hell of alot more than a scrappie would pay ya

Yeah people have told me that, But I don't have the space at the house to break a car (or the tools or the knowledge)

that'd be a problem then. If you do decide to scrap the car, scrap the shell & get a screwdriver & set of spanners, remove every single bit of trim (lights, swtches etc.) and small motors/relays & lable them & keep em in a box or two, then sell them off bit-by-bit. Bimmers are very common & parts are always sought after in the market so youll easily make more from sellin off even just the trim that the scrappie will give ya for the shell.

Stick it up on adverts, maybe someone will buy for a bit and break or fix it themselves.
I think you'd get about 50 for it by a scrappie (make sure you get end-of-life certificate to reclaim tax etc.)
