I was using my pc on friday night, and it worked grand. next day I checked it and not even a wink, I press the power button and nothing happens. no beeps

So I changed the PSU,(bought newer PSU) same negitive result.

    MY system specs are
    mobo : MSI P945 NEO
    RAM : 4GB DDR2.
    Graphics. ATI Saph. 1024......(recently addition)
    PSU : ENERMAX 400w. bought a new 480 w psu yesterday, installed it = 0.
    CPU : intel 3.0 p4

Im trying to think , what the devil is wrong with it?

Ive unplugged the ram, pressed the power button =0

did I miss any internal fuses?

    thanks for any assist given

    regards
    CH:confused:

check the power switch with a meter ? (At the leads where it plugs onto the mobo would seem easiest)

Might be a bit obvious, but have you tried a different socket/power cable?

    Hello,

Yup tried different plug , different socket combo.

I will test the switch . thanks,

that switch on the PSU, could that have damaged mobo?

I do press it from time to time , when pc freeses.

If something connected to the motherboard is causing the machine not to start you should get beep errors or light codes (around the back of the PC).

Having said that it sounds like the motherboard is probably faulty. You could try to remove all cards and disconnect all drives just leaving the monitor connected and the memory in to be sure.

Change the fuse in the power plug, disconnect all drives, dvd, cdrom, hardrive,
put ram in slot 0, first slot,
put in a pci grahics card, remove present graphics card, check are all fan power cables plugged in.eg put in an old grahics card that needs no extra power cable ,takes power from the pci slot,or pci ex slot.PC WILL NOT COME on if theres no ram in the slots.check power cable going to cpu fan.plug speakers into audio out ,green socket,do you hear beeps, beeps=something wrong.

Also, a silly thing, but if the "hardware reset" button on the PC case was stuck it wouldn't power up. Happened me many years ago.

Sounds like the motherboard. Anyway to test that in another machine?
