Saalbach v Hinterglemm?

    Hi,

I'm looking to book a trip in the New Year for a group & seems like Saalbach Hinterglemm is a good location for our mixed abilities & I can get flights to Salzburg pretty cheap.

Just wondering whats the big difference between Saalbach & Hinterglemm? I can get some good prices for apartments in Hinterglemm so I'm currently leaning towards this. Is there a good night life? Easy access to slopes etc?

Also looking to arrange lift passes/lessons/equipment. Some of us will have our own boots while others will need to rent everything. Anyone know of anywhere that does a good deal on all of these? Seems quite pricey to book them all individually.

    Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance!

I've never stayed in Hinterglemm, just skied down into it. Saalbach is definitely the main resort, Hinterglemm is more or less just a satellite village. I hear there is some good après ski there. But I think it's quieter (but you can go night skiing!) and generally more family orientated.

Both access the exact same skiing Hintergllemm is slightly fither from the early morning sun skiing in Leogang but by very little.

Main apres bar is in Hunterglemm the Goatstall. Wil be slightly less choice in places to eat, but if you are going half board it will make no diffrence and it is a little quiter in the evening but the price diffrence in accomidation may make up for it

Thanks for all the replies lads. Have since gotten a really good price for an apartment beside the Schattberg lift in Saalbach so think I might go for that instead. We're all mid 20's so want to be in the thick of it :D

    Thanks again!

You cant really get a better spot than that, i think you will be very pleased with that location, of course if you don't mind the noise of the gondola in the early morning.

Brilliant delighted to hear that! With a bit of luck the noise of the Gondola will just encourage us to get up & hit the mountain!! ;) Super excited now!
