I would like to receive freeview hd on windows media centre.
At present I can receive freeview on channels 42,43,46 and 49 from Preselli and the saorview channels (including the hd test channel)on 45 from Mount Leinster.
I am using windows 7 and would like to know is it just a matter of downloading the right codecs ?

The tuner you have is dvb-t. You cant make it tune dvb-t2 as its a different hardware platform.

You will need a dvb-t2 tuner. There are 2 available that I know of, the usb one is available in the coming weeks.

    PC Card

Check the frequency that you are receiving saorview on.
If you have the welsh channels, its not 45 you are getting saorview on.
    Its probably kippure ch 54.

Freeview hd should work fine with those sticks.

It's channel 45 on an indoor antenna.
As you know there is co-channel interference on 45 when using rooftop aerial which renders it useless for both services .

    :eek::eek::eek:

So how are you managing to combine the two?
ch54 is available now in Gorey so theres no need to have that problem.
There was a Gorey poster here [wreckless] who is picking up both fine together in perfect harmony side by side on the piano...[oh wait thats a song :D]

You just need another contract group B or wideband pointed to kippure :)

(The ch 54 might be Gorey's tx at the graveyard near tesco-I simply dont know if that is on yet but I understand that if it is,the fact that kippure is receivable down there on the same channel shouldn't be a problem as they are both the same data stream so you in effect get an unintended sfn)

Up till now I have watched the saorview service on an indoor aerial on a picnic box.In the last few weeks I have gotten a new computer and realised due to other posters on this forum how to pick up the Irish services on media centre.
I'm sure that eventually saorview will just use a non conflicting channel and everyone will be happy. At one point I did receive channel 52 with channel 45.In the end I might just turn the aerial towards Kippure as I'll be b#######d if I'm going to shell out for a new antenna when the one I have is perfectly functional.

Looks like a nice alternative to "another" box under the TV. I have a laptop as a "media" centre under the TV at present.

Would the Blackgold 3620 mentioned above work in a laptop with a ExpressCard/54 Slot?

If yes, would my spec be sufficient to run all it's capabilities:

    2.0 Core2duo dual core processor
    2 GB DDR2 memory
    15.4″ WXGA High-Definition HP BrightView Widescreen Display (1280 x 800)
    256MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(R) Go 7200
    Windows 7 Ultimate

    Thanks!
